These scores are calculated annually by the Indiana Department of Education and take into account factors such as graduation rate, college and career readiness and student improvement academically.
As a corporation, Clarksville Community Schools rose from a C for the 2016/17 school year to a B for the 2017/18 school year.
Clarksville Elementary School rose from a C for the 2016/17 schools year to a solid A for the 2017/18 school year. Clarksville Middle School also increased its letter grade, going from a C to a B.
Clarksville High School and Renaissance Academy both held steady at a B from 2016/17 school year to the 2017/18 school year.
“I am proud of the progress that we’ve made as a corporation,” district superintendent Tina Bennett said. “We are still not at the proficiency level that we are happy with but we have some very specific and targeted initiatives in place to address those gaps. But overall, I’m very pleased. Our next steps will be to become an A in each building and as a corporation.”
With all As and Bs, Clarksville Community Schools is performing on par, or better than, its neighboring school corporations. New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corp., West Clark Community Schools Corp. and Greater Clark County Schools Corp. each also received a B as a district. West Clark Community Schools and Clarksville Community Schools are the only two districts locally which received all As and Bs.
