Math and Science Homework Hotline (Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology)
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s Homework Hotline is a free math and science tutoring service for Indiana middle and high school students. A community service since 1991, the program provides tutoring via a toll-free phone call, email, or chat session at1-877-ASK-Rose or AskRose.org. The Homework Hotline reinforces math and science concepts, helps students develop better problem-solving skills, and guide them toward answering similar problems on their own.

Tutors answer calls between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time), Sunday through Thursday, from September through May. Tutors are Rose-Hulman college students who are recommended by faculty and selected for their technical knowledge and their ability to communicate clearly. Tutors guide students in learning more about a subject but do not do the work for them. Tutors have access to current state-adopted math and science textbooks, as well as computers and the Internet, when helping students understand and solve homework problems.

Before calling the Homework Hotline, students should have the following items handy:

• Homework assignment
• Textbook (if available)
• Paper
• Pencil or pen
• Calculator (if needed)

Students will be asked to provide their first name and the name of their school when they call.

Resource materials and educational tools for students and educators are available on the Homework Hotline Web site – http://www.askrose.org. Homework questions can also be submitted via the Homework Hotline Web site. A student will receive a response from a tutor during the Homework Hotline hours of operation.
