The Clarksville Community Board of School Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of a new CCSC athletic director on Tuesday, May 17.
Jason Carter was named the new athletic director of Clarksville Community Schools during the Board’s special meeting.
More than 25 applicants applied for the job of CCSC athletic director. After many interviews and much discussion, Carter was chosen as the top candidate and recommended to the Board by a committee made up of administrators, staff, coaches and parents.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to continue my athletic career as a Clarksville General,” Carter said. “I am excited to invest my heart, time, and energy into elevating the Clarksville Community Schools athletic program and continuing to make them the pride of the community.”
Carter graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University Southeast in General Science, Physical Science and Earth/Space Science. He has been employed as a high school science teacher, and most recently served as the assistant athletic director at Scottsburg High School.
He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Athletic Administration through Concordia University. When completed, he will be a registered Certified Master Athletic Director, the highest certification obtainable for athletic directors.
“Clarksville is excited to have Jason join our administrative team,” Kim Knott, Superintendent of Schools, said. “He is committed to making the school-community of Clarksville a success. As he shared numerous times throughout the interview process, he desires a corporation where he and his family can establish roots. We proudly welcome Jason and his family to the Clarksville school-community!”
