With students from preschool to fourth grade, Clarksville Elementary School’s highly-qualified staff works hard to ensure every child reaches his or her highest potential. The school of about 500 students has many opportunities for students, including physical education, music, art and technology programs in addition to the traditional curriculum.

Students in third and fourth grade have the opportunity to participate in basketball, cheerleading, track and Student Council. Third and fourth graders also have the opportunity to participate in an after school Homework Club through the Communities in Schools program. In addition to our classroom teachers,  the Title One teacher, ELL teacher, Master Teacher, speech teachers, and several assistants work to ensure all needs of our students are met.

Kindergarten is available to all students who turn 5 years old by August 1. Due to recent changes in state legislation, students who turn 5 years old between August 1 and October 1 may be admitted into Kindergarten pending approval via a Kindergarten readiness test.  If you would like to make arrangements for your child to be tested to enroll in Kindergarten as an Early Entrance student, please contact the school office at 812-282-1447 for information. We recommend in-district families whose children fall in that two-month span also get on the list for preschool if they are interested, as our preschool program consistently has a waiting list and admission to Kindergarten is not guaranteed.

Clarksville Elementary School has received an “A” rating from the Indiana Department of Education for the last two years as a result of the growth in our students’ ISTEP scores.  We are very proud of both our students and staff at CES!

Principal’s Message

Carey Davis

Hello CES Families! I am so excited to be returning for my 11th year at Clarksville Elementary School and my fourth year as principal! After being the assistant principal for 7 years, I am so thrilled to be leading our wonderful school! 2024-2025 will be an awesome year!

Clarksville Elementary is truly a special school! We have the most talented and dedicated teachers I have seen in the various states and schools that I have served in. Our staff truly cares about our children and making sure that they not only learn academically, but that they have positive social and emotional experiences at school as well.

Vice Principal’s Message

Dear CES families,

I am thrilled to join the Generals family for my second year as an assistant principal! I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead Clarksville Elementary.

I earned both a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Masters Degree in Special Education from Western Governors University. I acquired a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education. While this is my second year as a school administrator, it is my eleventh year in education.

FAMILY TESTIMONIALS

“It’s like a family for my children. They’ve loved every teacher they’ve had or that’s there and they’re excited to be there. I would describe Clarksville schools as a family. That’s really the only way to describe it.”

Ashley Gilmore

Mother of two CES students

“I like the small classrooms, tight-knit community, and more one-on-one attention. Everyone is helpful and helps one another. Both of my boys love it here and my girls did, too”

Christina Ramirez

Mother of current students & graduates

“We have struggled with helping [Charlie] learn how he learns differently and what works best for him and all of the research and doctor visits and therapy all recommended a place that allowed him a place that allowed him to think outside the box. When he came to the open house at Renaissance Academy he said they speak my language here. This feels like home.”

Mother of current RA student
