Students in Mrs. Sorg’s eighth grade science class have been focusing on engineering standards by building a prototype, testing the prototype and communicating the results.
To conduct their experiment, students made a bridge of popsicle sticks and glue in order to determine how much weight their bridge would hold.
The objective was to get their bridge to hold one gallon of water (8.6 lbs) without breaking. Students were impressed with the different bridges and thought processes others thought of to get their bridge to hold a considerable amount of weight.
After the experiment, students communicated their results in writing!
Great engineering activity, Mrs. Sorg!
